6 N Fulton St, Auburn, NY 13021
What a shame to see this fabulous circa 1890 brick Victorian go to complete rack and ruin. The owner is very motivated to to sell, and will give any offer serious consideration. It needs a considerable amount of work, but first let’s look at the positives.
A family friend played minor league baseball for the Auburn Doubledays, and we went to visit him there a few times. The town is lovely. Located in the Finger Lakes region, it lies at the north end of Oswaco Lake, known for its swimming, water-skiing and boating opportunities. Of course, the wonderful minor league baseball stadium is a draw, too. Consider that the exterior features of this unique home haven’t been tainted. All the beautiful original windows, front doors and fretwork are still intact. And just look at those windows – Palladian, round, even a triangle window in the dome of the turret. Did I say turret? Yes, and I’ll say it again – a domed turret that I have not seen the likes of in a house under $50,000. A sleeping porch, empire roof and two stories of bay windows add to the beauty of this gem.
The interior has some great details, also. Fifteen rooms with tall ceilings, a stunning fireplace mantel, bullseye moldings and hardwood floors name a few. The owner apparently likes chandeliers, because there’s even one in the bathroom. As you can tell by the photos and lack of a kitchen photo, this is more than a handyman’s special. However, if you could get this house for an excellent price, just think of the possibilities.
