404 Lee St., Franklin, VA 23851
I rarely include a home in this blog that is priced over $50,000, but this one is an exception to my rule. This 1907 Franklin, Virginia Victorian with turret and curved wrap-around porch drew me in immediately upon first sight. When I spied the third floor Palladian window and original front door with transom and sidelights my heart skipped a beat. If only this beauty was available when our family of nine was still young. I can imagine my two oldest girls reading books on the second-floor window seat and our boys shooting Nerf guns off the sleeping porch. I lost count, but I think there are enough fireplace mantels one for each of our seven kids. The three boys would have the attic as a dormitory-style bedroom, with two girls in each second-floor bedroom and my husband and I in the third. The home has two full baths, but I know my husband always wanted a third bathroom in our New Jersey old home’s third-floor dormitory, so it’d be great to install one in this huge house. The yard is lovely and the house is surrounded by other large, older homes on a pleasant street. While my family is grown now and live in four different states, this Virginia Victorian with tiled mantels, hardwood floors, high ceilings, original doors and trim, wainscoting and a clawfoot tub need another large family to help restore it to its former glory.
