This lovely old house under $50,000 is advertised by the realtor as a “New Englander.” That isn’t really a bonafide architectural term, but it’s used as a catchall by New England realtors. Call it what you want, this circa 1917 residence has plenty of wonderful architectural features, and it doesn’t require a lot of work. Check out all the fabulous original interior and exterior doors, including pocket doors. Exterior millwork, a wrap-around porch, stained glass and a beautiful staircase are all in good shape. For me, the piece de resistance is the built-in cupboards with my favorite hardware. Although it’s painted pink, the tongue-in-groove attic is a plus. Usually, attics have crumbling horsehair plaster. Large rooms, an open floor plan, hardwood floors and a nice yard complete the picture.
