38 Academy St., Cambridge, NY 12816 $26,000
When you visit the small town of Cambridge, New York, you’ll quickly discover what inspired some of Grandma Moses’ greatest paintings. The town is surrounded by beautiful scenery and boasts an eclectic mix of antique, art and book shops. It’s close to Vermont, Saratoga and the Troy/Albany area, and (an interesting piece of information) is the anecdotal home to pie a la mode. My sister, aunt and cousins lived here and our family visited the area often. This circa 1880 Greek Revival, in fact, is just a few blocks from where my aunt had a beautiful home and was friends with the Moses family.
Although it looks like it needs a new heating system, at $26,000. you can’t beat the price. It sits on 1.15 lush green acres. Wide plank floors, original doors and hardware, and a stunning staircase grace the interior. This 4-bedroom, 2-bath could be a really wonderful place to live when it’s restored!
