This Greek Revival home for sale in Kentucky on 2.84 acres is sold as is. It is known as the  J.B. Knight House. This unique example of split-level Greek Revival architecture was built between 1815 and 1825 and is listed on the National Historic Register as the oldest home in Hopkinsville and Christian County (home is outside the historic district jurisdiction). The home belonged to the real estate mogul, J. B. Knight and his family for around 100 years and comes with two albums full of original letters from Mr. Knight. Part of the local lore includes its involvement in the Civil War and the Knight Riders, per William Turner, the Christian County Historian.

Hopkinsville is a city located in Christian County, Kentucky, United States. It is situated in the southwestern part of the state, approximately 75 miles northwest of Nashville, Tennessee. As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, Hopkinsville had a population of around 32,000 people.

Hopkinsville is known for its historical and cultural significance. It has a rich heritage and played a role in various historical events, including the Civil War. The city has several attractions and landmarks that showcase its history, such as the Trail of Tears Commemorative Park, which memorializes the forced removal of Native Americans from their ancestral lands.

Family History

J.B. Knight owned large tracts of real estate in Hopkinsville in 1878 along 6th and L&N tracks. He owned J.B. Knight & Son, both practicing law.  The Knight family was the major commercial landowner in Hopkinsville in the 1880s.  He lived here with his wife Eliza, and sons, Robert and  John. This Greek Revival home was occupied by Knight’s descendants until 1942.
