311 E 12th Ave., Cordele, GA 31015
This circa 1925 Georgia house under $50,000 is about an hour from Warner Robins AFB and 45 minutes from Andersonville National Historic Site. (The Airplane Museum and Andersonville’s Civil War site should be on your bucket list of places to visit. So memorable.) Cordele has a charming historic district, largely of 1920’s bungalows, and this one has a great price tag. Note the wide sidewalk leading up to the lovely front porch. I love the portico and the original front door with transom. The interior has a stunning staircase, hardwood floors, French doors, high ceilings, multiple fireplace mantels, original doors and trim, three bedrooms and one bath. It’s a shame they put up that dastardly paneling (the bedroom paneling was painted over), but it’s hard to find a house under $50,000 that doesn’t have at least one space disguised as a cheap motel room. The dining and living room ceilings make up for the tragic paneling, and the kitchen is decent, too. Google Map the house, and you’ll view a beautiful church and an amazing antebellum mansion directly across the street!
