1652 Main St, Port Norris, NJ 08349
Port Norris is near my former neck of the woods in South Jersey. Located on the mouth of the Maurice River, the village of about 1,500 residents was once a center of the oystering industry. We’ve visited the town several times in search of an old fixer upper for my son. Admittedly, it has fallen on hard times and the old homes are in shabby condition, but still there is a certain fishing village kind of charm about the place.
This 3-bedroom, 1-bath farmhouse needs a considerable amount of work, but the price is sure right. It features a beautiful carved wood staircase, hardwood floors, original doors and trim and a sunroom with beadboard ceiling. The attic looks great, and once you get rid of the dropped ceiling, the kitchen is spacious with plenty of space for upgraded cabinets and an island. I’m thinking it probably needs, among other things, a septic system, which can be quite an expense in New Jersey.
