I’ll be concentrating on vacation homes this week. This one is located just two blocks from the Neuse River in Bridgeton, NC. Bridgeton is a tiny hamlet of less than 500 people. Although it is situated directly across the river from the larger town of New Bern, it only takes five minutes to travel across the Neuse River Bridge to downtown New Bern. In addition, the home is in close proximity to public boat ramps, and ocean beaches are a one-hour drive away. Built in 1940, this cute cottage offers public water and sewer, a covered front porch, detached garage, working kitchen and sunlit rooms. I especially like the 1940’s bathtub, and the beadboard walls are a must-have in my mind for a vacation cottage. Whether you are looking for a weekend getaway or a downsized retirement residence, this adorable bungalow has a lot going for it.
