505 W Moore St., Aurora, IN 47001
My daughter Hayley actually toured this Dutch Colonial home last week. It has a lot going for it for those who have the time to put into it, especially for the price. It’s located on .81 acres on a cul de sac in a lovely historic neighborhood called Westside in Aurora, Indiana. Neighbors have well-kept homes, and you can see there is a pride of place. In fact, one of the neighbors is taking care of this home while it is on the market. The spacious yard is great, with a garage and a gazebo and a pretty view on one side. As for the interior, the realtor calls it a duplex, but in reality it has a shared kitchen and shared mechanicals. It does have two living rooms with beautiful fireplace mantels, two stunning staircases, two bathrooms and two bedrooms on each side. Hardwood floors, built-ins and plenty of closet space are added pluses.
Hayley noted that the foundation needs work in one corner. Apparently a tree root has compromised the corner, but it has stood the test of time for a while now. The home has a full basement with a sump pump, however, it downpoured the night before the tour and there was no water in the basement when Hayley viewed it. She was more concerned with the rot in a portion of the rear eave and a section of the rear siding. We were tempted, but decided to pass on the house. My husband has renovated five houses over the years but wanted something with a little less work this go round. Don’t let that scare you though. It’s a pretty good house in a great spot for the money!
