150 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940-3705
This circa 1900 Victorian is situated on a street of mostly larger older homes and is opposite an old brick church with tall spire and land surrounded by an antique iron fence. Commuter trains run nearby to Penn Station, or a 1.5-hour car ride will get you there. The house requires considerable work but has so many wonderful architectural details to save. Consider the beautiful wrap-around porch with its screened circular corner section. It’s amazing! What’s more amazing is the original front door that leads into a fabulous foyer complete with a staircase to heaven! The L-shaped architectural gem has a leaded glass window near the landing and a tall newel post with a lighting fixture on top! I can’t remember the last time I saw one of those on a fixer upper. It’s usually the first thing to get damaged. Stunning pocket doors, bullseye molding and hardwood floors are added plusses. Rooms have high ceilings and are spacious. Just think of what you could do in that large kitchen. I love the second floor corner window and the third floor Palladian window is another winner. I’m so hoping that someone sees the potential of this house and can bring it back to its former glory.
