If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a general store out in the country, here’s your chance. The building was originally built in 1908 as the N & W Train Depot, however, the excursion of 1932 was the last passenger train on the Potts Valley Branch to pass through here. After the railroad was abandoned, a family ran the building as the Hall General Store and Feed Store during the 1960s and 70s. The second floor has a three-bedroom, one-bath apartment, in which the family lived.

Today there’s not much in Waiteville. The hamlet is located on the Virginia border in a lovely spot, but even the post office closed down in 2009. Beautiful Waiteville Valley, though, is just a hop, skip and a jump to tourist areas such as Jefferson National Forest, Paint Gap and Gap Mills.

This is a unique property that certainly has piqued my husband’s interest. It features five outbuildings, including a guest house. It’s been on the market for at least a year, and the price has been reduced $10,000 to $39,900.
