NY Historic Home Reduced to Under $40,000

This well-built 1907 Baptist Manse parsonage, called a Colonial Revival by the town’s architectural historian, boasts Palladian windows, five bedrooms, 1.5 baths, large rooms and oh, what a neighborhood! Built in 1907 this grand brick and Medina sandstone home has been reduced from $46,000 (when I featured it in March with no interior photos) to $39,900! It is located in Albion, New York, and is surrounded by beautiful architecture in the Orleans County Courthouse Historic District. Two gorgeous churches are next door. In fact, Google Map the area, and you’ll see (as per Wikipedia)…

“many significant buildings in the village, such as its post office and churches from seven different denominations, one of which is the tallest structure in the county. Many buildings are the work of local architect William V.N. Barlow, with contributions from Solon Spencer Bemen and Andrew Jackson Warner. They run the range of architectural styles from the era in which the district developed, from Federal to Colonial Revival.

Most of its buildings date to the 19th century, with some erected in the early 20th, a period when Albion was prospering not only as the county seat but as a stop on the Erie Canal, which passes through the village a short distance north of the district. A number of the buildings, including the county courthouse, use locally quarried Medina sandstone. In 1979 it was recognized as a historic district and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. “

If you love architecture, Albion is worth looking into. Here is an old postcard of the home that you might find interesting.
