Our son is a lieutenant stationed at Warner Robins AFB in Georgia. It’s a long drive to Warner Robins from Cape May, NJ, so we decided to split the trip up when we drove down to visit him. Statesville, NC, seemed like as good a place as any to spend the night, and we were glad we did. The historic downtown is having a revitalization with fine restaurants, antique shops and clothing stores. Broad streets and great old brick buildings must have been two of the reasons why Statesville was twice named “An All-American City. This circa 1900 Craftsman bungalow in the heart of town is a charming example of the wonderful homes you can find there. It sits on a lovely street-lined street in a great neighborhood with well-kept older homes boasting white picket fences and rose gardens. Isn’t the exterior just the sweetest? I love the front porch and the “Real McCoys” screen door. (I’m really dating myself with that reference.) A deep back yard, brick foundation, original floor plan, French doors, hardwood floors and a fireplace add to the home’s appeal. Even the super high kitchen cupboards are to my liking. The price is so low because the listing agent states it is bank owned ~ a foreclosure.
