59 Warren St. Unit 206, Hawkinsville, GA 31036

Our son is a lieutenant in the USAF, stationed in Warner Robins. In November, we went to visit him with the express purpose of helping him look for homes to purchase. Warner Robins was founded around the air force base in the 1950s, so there’s slim pickings as far as old houses go. I really tried to encourage him to expand his search to Hawkinsville, about a 40-minute drive to the base, because it is an older town with a historic district of lovely older homes. He didn’t want to commute that far, and it turned out just as well, because he’s being transferred to Sacramento nearer to us. But for anyone looking for a great older home at a cut-rate price, this circa 1920 cottage could be your ticket to home ownership.
I don’t know what you’d call this style architecture, but it is prevalent in the southeast. Check out the front door with leaded glass sidelights and transom. It leads into a sun-filled center foyer with parquet floors. The residence has original trim, six-panel doors, hardwood floors, and get this – five fireplace mantels! Note the large room with the built-ins and amazing floor! The bathroom has been updated, which is a plus, but what gets my attention is the large amount of original architectural features this house has for such a small price.
