I don’t know; there’s just something about the exterior of this house that appeals to me. Except for the front window and door, the house probably looks much the same as it did when it was built in 1890. For some reason I’m reminded of Chris Van Allsburg’s illustration, where the house rises from its foundation and blasts away into the clouds. Its weird, unearthly, wraithlike appearance begs the questions, “Are there ghosts in the attic and bats in the belfry?” That’s unlikely, since the interior has been updated, although considerably “blanded” out. Still, four-panel doors, a great third-story space and a beautiful staircase help retain some of its original character. Wanna make a bet that hardwood floors are hiding under all that new carpeting?
