OHU50K NOTES

Some like it hot. I guess Louis Conrad Koller (1885-1958) was one of those people who loved the desert for he relocated from New Jersey to Needles in 1916 and stayed until his death in 1958. The realtor’s build date is a bit off, because Mr. Koller lived in this home during the 1920 US Census. When he first moved to Needles, he rented this house with his wife Ruth Burggraf Koller (1893-1930) and their children Louis, John and Josephine. After Ruth died at home of pneumonia in 1930, Mr. Koller remained a widower for a couple of years before marrying Mabel Keesling Koller, 13 years his junior. They had two sons together, Noel and Keith, and sometime before 1940 the couple stopped renting and purchased this property. It was valued at $3,000 in 1940. Mr. Koller was a Santa Fe brakeman for 38 years before retiring.
