This was the home of the Augustus family for almost 80 years. Ernest Augustus (1894-1980), a safety director for the Mead Corporation, married Helen Ritter (1898-1993) in 1919 and purchased the home soon after. They raided their two children, Marjorie and Alan, in this home. Ernest did a lot of remodeling in the home around 1960 while spending 700 hours in the backyard workshop he built himself creating a scale model of the Chillicothe paper plants.
