Selling my ‘new to me’ 1950 Spartan Royal Mansion. This Spartan spent its entire life in Oklahoma and Colorado until I brought it to Wisconsin last summer to restore and upgrade. However with the first grandchild on the way and a new puppy I realize I do not have the time to work on her. She needs a good home with someone who will cherish and restore her. I spent much of the last year locating parts to restore the Mansion to its original configuration… either as direct replacements or templates for fabricating new pieces and all of those are included with the trailer.

The original dinette, front closet / room divider, shelves and drawers were removed at some time in the past. The built in credenza in the front of the trailer was also removed. To restore the Mansion I found an original closet unit and credenza from another Spartan. And I have the pieces of an original dinette to use as templates for making replacements. I have a factory original folding table in the cracked ice gray that matches the kitchen countertops. I have two replacement closet doors in great shape as spares, or to use in a restoration.

The last Oklahoma owner replaced some of the wood panels in the front room, likely when they installed wiring for the microwave. The bedroom wood is in good shape, the kitchen area and cabinet in good shape, the front room is in ok shape to use, but it deserves to be restored.

The exterior skin is generally in good shape, with the usual dings and hail dents from a life outside. There is damage on the front roadside, and the rear curbside where the trailer backed into something and needs to be repaired. I have the two necessary replacement panels as well as the rub rail for the rear replacement, salvaged from another Spartan Mansion last fall. Those complex curved panels are difficult to find or replicate so I was happy to get them. The owner also did a first polishing pass on about 75% of the trailer. It’s brighter, but I think they underestimated the work involved in polishing a vintage trailer. I have the almost brand new BuffPro polisher and extra Buffpro pads are included with the Mansion (about $1,000 retail price).

The trailer has a small apartment stove that they used hooked up to an lp tank under the sink (scary idea) and this stove is in nice shape. But I fell in love with the original Dixie apartment stoves that Spartan used…. So I found one to restore after a long search. It’s included as well.

The Royal Mansion is 33’7” inches long and factory weight was listed at 5,200 lbs. The trailer has two axles with Warner electric brakes. The brakes are disconnected, but I understand Warner brakes are very robust and can be rebuilt…. Or replaced with newer brake options. I towed this Mansion from Colorado to Wisconsin with my diesel Excursion and it towed more smoothly than our vintage Airstream. I have a clean Wisconsin title for the trailer.
