Fixer upper or not, my heart skips a beat whenever I find a Second Empire home under our $50K restraints. Located in the Waynesboro PA Historic District, the c.1870 home’s exterior looks much the same today as it did 150 years ago. The interior, too, has many original elements, but alterations and time have done some damage. It truly was a spectacular house in its day, though, and a person with passion and a big pocketbook could make it so again.
Excerpt from the National Register of Historic Places application report for Waynesburg:
Lots of character in this fixer upper home, 10′ ceilings, over sized windows, beautiful wood banisters, full set of steps to 3rd floor with unfinished rooms. New ceiling in living room and dining room. Bathrooms are currently gutted, along with many other rooms where plaster has been removed from walls and ceilings. Huge basement with new boiler and hot water tank and some wiring replaced. Alley in the back with possible off street parking. Sold in AS IS condition.
