Located on a corner lot on a street filled with wonderful Craftsman bungalows, this handyman special is like a Whitman’s Sampler chocolate. It looks delicious from the outside, but the inside is less tasty. That might have more to do with all the stuff, though, that hides the lovely original elements.

Family History
From 1910 until the 1930s, Albert Harris (1875-1963) and his wife Emeline Lowry Brooks Harris (1181-1930) owned this lovely home. The couple married in 1900, and Albert owned a grocery store where Emeline worked as a saleslady. She also loved to tend her garden and often sold roots of her red and yellow canna and calla lilies. The couple lived in the home with their children, Elizabeth, Albert Jr, Kathryn, Tom and Gus. It appears after Emeline died at the young age of 49, the family moved to Arkansas. When Albert Sr. passed away 33 years later, however, his adult children made sure to bury him next to his wife in Americus, Georgia.
