Solid circa 1820 home sits on a corner lot just a short walk to the Calais Waterfront Walkway along the Saint Croix River. Stroll over to the end of North Street and you can see Canada. The house has been rehabbed nicely, but it appears some of the hardwood floors have been painted instead of refinished.
My husband refinished most of our floors and they looked beautiful, but after 16 years of a dining room with no ceiling and rough hardwoods, I nagged him to get it done. He was tired. He painted the floor brown. Yuck. I didn’t have the heart to argue with him, since he had done everything himself on our house from top to bottom. He didn’t even like it, so we just covered it with a large throw rug.
