Here is an abandoned church for sale in the rugged hills of the Ouachita Mountains in the town of Cove. Although the town appears on maps as early as the 1850s, no one really knows why the name of Cove was chosen. In 1876, Henry McDaniel purchased acreage in the area for his large farming operation, and by 1890, Cove was a thriving village with five general stores, three blacksmith shops, a drugstore, wagon shop, schoolhouse, sawmill/grist mill and a cotton gin.

Cove also had a church building shared by Methodists, Baptists, and Cumberland Presbyterians. We are not sure if this is the same church building, but we would like to think so. As you can see, the old church is in dire need of restoration before the whole thing collapses.
