Family History
From what I can gather, Isaac Spence (1858-1933) built the original section of this house sometime before 1900. Thus, the street name of Spence. Mr. Spence was a successful merchant of the town’s general store and lived in the community for over 40 years until his death in 1933. He married Mary Ann Singletary (1863-1933) in 1883, and she supported her husband when he served as mayor and councilman of Ochlocknee. The couple died within eight months of each other, and the house was sold out of the family.
