“For $1,575.00 we will furnish all the material to build this nine-room home.” That’s the first line of the description for Sears Kit House #118 in the 1913 Sears Modern Homes catalog. The materials list included lumber, lath, shingles, mill work, siding, flooring, ceilings, finishing lumber, building paper, pipe, gutters, sash weights, hardware, mantel and painting material!
