Realtor Comments

If you like old world charm, very artistic and with historic charm this home is for you. Original woodwork galore, a gorgeous curved Italianate staircase, hardwood floors and a marble fireplace are just a few of the treasures you’ll find here in this 3-6 bedroom home. Double staircases, a brick patio, and 2 story carriage barn complete the reasons to love this home! The seller will also be handing over the original skeleton key that can open every door in the home as well as showing the buyers the secret compartment upstairs.
With cosmetic repairs and updates this home has the potential to be as grand as when it was built. The home was in the same family for almost 100 years and much research has been done to provide you with all of its magnificent history from the years bygone. Walking in the front door you will find a business registration from the 1930’s still attached to the windowpane from when the home was previously used as an antique shop and a furniture reproduction shop. Lots of pictures help to tell the stories of the years of its life and will be passed onto the new owner.
Great for entertaining with a large kitchen and separate dining room. Main level bedroom, laundry, bathroom, and an additional room that could be used as an office space. The 3 remaining bedrooms upstairs along with 3 additional bonus rooms which have their own private staircase. New roof on porch and house in 2021, new furnace in 2021, and new windows throughout in 2022. You won’t get character like this in any new home so don’t miss your chance at a piece of history! Lots of building material & supplies to finish various projects stay. Kitchen cabinets, appliances, drywall, ceramic tiles, wood laminate flooring, soaker tub & toilet.

Family History

This home was owned by the Mclellan family in the 1930s and 1940s. Buford Paul Mclellan ( 1902-2000) married Clara Liebeck in 1927 and soon after purchased this home. The couple had two children, Jackie and Jeannette. Buford was a master craftsman who ran a cabinet making business from the home while Clara ran the antique shop end of the business.

This quote was taken from a letter sent by McClellan’s Shop in 1934 which was located in this home: “Pull up your buggy to the deep front porch and have a sweet tea in the porch swing while watching the world pass by.”
