Family History

This was the home of Herman Uken (1849-1923), a German immigrant who moved to Davenport in 1870. He married Helena Otten in 1876 (1855-1948) and the couple had two children, Lillian and and Joe. Lillian and Joe were adults and unmarried. Henry A. Uken, a nephew and painter, also lived in the home. Herman supported the family with his contractor business.
