Family History
“Louis Manson Masterson, former state oil inspector who had been a resident of Wichita the last 35 years, died early Sunday in a local hospital. He was 68 years old and resided at 507 South Vine.
Mr. Masterson was a prominent Mason and also was active in Republican circles. He was born February 2, 1873 in Salem, Ind. and came to Kansas in 1903, settling at Turon where he taught school and worked in a bank before coming to Wichita 35 years ago.
He was a member of the Bester G. Brown lodge, AF & AM, the Wichita consistory, Midian Shrine and was a charter member of the Wichita Optimist club.
Mr. Masterson’s wife, Maude, died in 1938. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Harold K. Ely, Des Moines, Ia., and Mrs. Rex Cates, 507 South Vine; a sister, Mary W. Voyles. Salem, Ind.; and two brothers, James H., Indianapolis, Ind., and Thomas P., Downey, Cal.”
