Family History
This home was built for Louis Schmenk Sr. (1857-1916) and his wife Mary Kyne Schmenk (1859-1941). Louis owned a grocery and sundries store. The couple lived in the home with their children Henry, Louis Jr. and Florence, as well as a boarder and a servant. A short time before his death in 1916 from a lingering illness, the Louis sold the home. After that point the home appears to have been divided into two apartments.
