511 Cross Hill Rd, Richmondville, NY 12149 $99,900 Sold for $45,000
OHU50K NOTES
Who doesn’t admire a Greek Revival? And this c.1850 fixer upper Greek Revival is located in Schoharie County, arguably the most beautiful county in New York State. We owned a 15-acre hobby farm in the nearby town of Cobleskill and often drove the gorgeous back roads of Richmondville.
This fixer upper farmhouse on 1.7 acres originally had many more acres. It was the home of John Angle Fox (1817-1912). He wed Rebecca Cross in 1849 and purchased the large farm from her father Joshua Cross, after whom the road is named.
Over the decades many members of the extended family lived and worked on the farm. Some, in fact, are buried in the family cemetery across the road.

218 Highland Ave, Tazewell, VA 24651 $65,000 Sold for $60,000
OHU50K NOTES
It is Sunday, the day of the week OHU50K rests from its under $50K cares to feature homes up to $100K. We have three properties today: a city house; a waterfront property on 2.75 acres; and this 1.5-acre mountain view home in Tazewell, Virginia, the gateway to the heartland of the Appalachian Mountains.
Built in 1899, this was the home of Louise Leslie, a lifetime resident of Tazewell who died in January of this year at the age of 89. She was an author, historian and editor/columnist for her family-owned newspaper, the Clinch Valley News, one of the oldest newspapers in Virginia. Louise did not want a funeral service, but instead left this upbeat message that tickled me, “Thanks, I had a good time.”

26700 Mount Vernon Rd, Princess Anne, MD 21853 $59,900 ~ Sold for $50,000
OHU50K NOTES
As most of you are aware by now, Sunday is the day of the week OHU50K breaks out of our under $50K mold to feature properties up to $100K. Today we are featuring three properties: a city house; a mountain view home on 1.5 acres; and this waterfront property on 2.75 acres.
It is not often you find waterfront property for less than $60,000 with acreage no less, but this c.1918 Princess Anne, Maryland, farmhouse has it all. The 2.75 acre lot backs up to Johnson’s Creek, and a boat launch with access to the Wimcomico River is just a half mile away. Take a look at the Google map, and you’ll find the home is located on a street of well-kept older homes.
Unfortunately, the realtor only included one interior photo. You might want to request more photos while asking about potential flooding. Although the 2015 FEMA map does not indicate that the home is in a flood zone, the surrounding area is. Since flooding is becoming more frequent across the country, please perform due diligence.

321 N Perry St, Titusville, PA 16354 $49,500 Reduced to $43,900 SOLD For $33K
OHU50K NOTES
This c.1868 Second Empire fixer upper was built in a more prosperous period in Titusville’s history during Pennsylvania’s oil rush.
The Pennsylvania oil boom began in Titusville when Edwin L. Drake struck rock oil here in 1859. Oil wells and refineries shot up across the area in towns called Oil City and Pithole, as did many lovely homes constructed by oil men. By 1891, the boom was over.
You’ll want to view the neighborhood on Google Maps to see the brick street, older homes and beautiful stone church across the street.
Here’s a short video showing some of the grander Victorian homes built during the Oil Valley oil boom.
