Family History
The home was built for farmer Samuel Smith Watson (1800-1885). He relocated from Massachusetts with his parents in 1810 and raised his children, Jane, Susan Bessie, William, Mary and Phebe in this house with his wife Jerusha Harmon Watson (1808-1883). Son-in-law Fred W. Richardson, husband of Phebe, built the octagonal barn sometime after their marriage in 1896.
