Abandoned Fixer Upper Second Empire Multi-Family in Troy, NY $40K

When Barabara Vicary was studying for her Regents exams in the 1950s, this fixer upper was a comfortable Second Empire home in the North Central neighborhood of Troy, New York. Today the home is a sad example of an area’s decline and neglect.

In order to make room for extended family, John Willetts sold his home on River Street in Troy to purchase this duplex in the late 1940s. He and his wife Selena lived in one unit, and his daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and William Vicary, and their children, Barbara and Janet, lived in the second unit.
