Family History

For almost six decades this was the Baughman family home.  James Baughman (1866-1923) owned his own real estate company and farm.  Sometime before 1910, he relocated from South Dakota with his wife, Anna Peoples Baughman, with whom he married in 1901. James still would travel back to South Dakota, however, to superintend the threshing of wheat on his farm there.  The Baughmans purchased the Ohio home and lived there with their young daughter, Hildred. After James passed away in 1923, Anna and Hildred continued to live in the home until moving to Washington Court House, Ohio, around 1950.
Anna won a $5 third prize for naming Connor Dairy’s buttermilk , “Vita Vim,” in 1913.
