Barn Conversion Foreclosure in La Porte IN $50K ~ Off Market

Occasionally, OHU50K likes to mix things up. Here is a foreclosure, a barn conversion, in La Porte, Indiana. Photos at the bottom of the post show how the exterior looked in 2018.

This is not written in stone, but it may be what likely happened. We know for a fact that a house stood at the front of the property in 1910. It was owned by a young couple, John and Lizzie VanAuken. They both worked at the textile mill, John as a washer and Lizzie as a weaver. The barn appears to have been an outbuilding on the VanAucken property.

Eventually the house was razed and the barn was converted into a home. In 2018, updates were started, but apparently things did not work out as the property is now a foreclosure.
