Family History
A wonderful home in a once elite neighborhood built for successful distiller John Harrison Francis (1829-1902), a native of Kentucky. and owner of the Great Western Distilling Company. He married Harriet Ingle in 1851, but she died in 1872 leaving five children. A year later he married Mary Ingle (her sister/1849-1927) who was twenty years younger than John. They had one daughter. He built this large Queen Anne style house soon after. He also built several other houses in Peoria for his children, John, William, Josephine, Maud, Bruce, Harriet and Robert.
