OHU50K NOTES
Built in 1880, this is one of the early homes in Buffalo Mills, Pennsylvania. John Alsop built the first industry in the village, a grist mill, in 1850. A store was established, and in 1868, teacher, farmer and justice of the peace M.C. Miller founded a large flour mill. After the railroad came through in 1871, the town grew so that in 1900 it boasted two general stores, a grist mill, Old fellow’s Hall, a hotel, small shops and about 20 homes.
Today the business community has all but vanished. The smattering of homes, which were built close to the road, sit near Buffalo Ridge as a testament when farming communities thrived. The property offers a lovely staircase, tiled bath and vintage steel kitchen cabinetry.
