OHU50K NOTES
This wonderful home is located in the delightful small town of Stanton, Iowa (pop. 689). I call it delightful, because in how many towns do you find its water tower in the shape of a coffee pot? The home offers a beautiful staircase, an old safe, hardwood floors, vintage lighting fixtures, stained glass and leaded glass.
History
At the time this home was built in 1888, most of Stanton was populated with Swedish immigrants and were shop owners. This home, however, was owned by Dr. T.A. Trulson (1861-1903), a native of Wisconsin whose parents were from Norway. He was a trained physician and surgeon. The good doctor lived here with his wife Huldah (1861-1935) who was born in Sweden. They had the house built for them two years after their marriage, but it appears a son, Theodore, may have been stillborn in 1886. It seems the Trulson’s had no other children, as Dr. Trulson died in 1903. The Iowa Census states the house was valued at $4,000 in 1915, about $104,000 in today’s dollars.

Needs lots of TLC but it looks doable. And who wouldn’t love a teapot water tower? Love it!

It is a coffee pot. “Mrs. Olson” from the Folgers commercials was from there.
