Family History

This was the home of Charles E. Codman (1856-1943), who was raised as a child in an older house on the same site. Charles owned a planing mill across the road that manufactured hay presses among other things. Codman constructed the Queen Anne Victorian home after his marriage to Cora Johnston, who was 14 years his junior,  in 1892. The childless couple lived there together for more than four decades. Charles is buried in the Brownville Cemetery.
