Family History
This is the Fridolin Fischer House. Fred Fischer (1850-1921) came to Texas from Indiana in 1876. In 1893 he opened a hardware store and had this house built in the Eastlake style by David P. Winfrey. Fischer was a tinsmith in Germany before he came to the US, and he actually designed some of the metal ornamentations on this house. He was a man of many talents. He was also a mason. Fischer lived in the home with his second wife, Mollie, who was 15 years his junior, and their sons, Fridolin, Otto, Clifford and Beauford. His first wife, Annie, had passed away in 1890 at age 43.
