OHU50K NOTES

The interior has water damage and the house looks the worse for wear, but in its day, this was the beautiful home of Daniel Layton, a steel worker, and his wife Matilda Blough Layton (Tillie for short). They were married in 1887 and owned the property from around 1905 to the mid 1940s. The couple lived here with their son Donald until he moved out after age 40. Then Daniel’s nephew and his family moved in.
Daniel was employed well into his sixties as a steel worker. Donald was also a steel worker, as were many of the heads of family on Pine Street.  Per the US Census, the house was worth $3,800 in 1940.
