This was originally the home of the Bridge Family. George Howard Bridge (1857-1920) was a professor. George was the son of an immigrant English butcher who relocated to Galesburg where he worked in the Galesburg schools. William married Minerva Olin (1857-1918) in 1881. They needed a large house for their seven children, Glenn, Earle, Arthur, Irene, Gordon, Ruth, Edna.
