Family History
This was the home of Fred E. Olin (1861-1937). Fred was born in Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York. Sometime before 1893, he married Etta E. Gates (1859-1950), and the couple moved to Pueblo, Colorado. They purchased this home between 1900 and 1910, and raised their children, Mabel, Fred and Ceylon, here. Fred SR. was a foreman of a livery stable and later a grocery store manager. In 1921 he became a city commissioner. Etta was a member of the Women’s Association of the First Congregational Church and loved to open her home up for club meetings.
