When we toured the house, a portrait of the original owner lay forlorn in the basement. His 90-year old daughter-in-law said she’d leave it for us with the house, and I had visions of hanging it in the living room over the fireplace. Sadly, the home required some plumbing work before sale, and she sold the painting to the plumber for $5.
