Family History

From about 1915 to about 1965 this was the McLaughlin family home. Bert Emmett McLaughlin (1971-1965) was an attorney. In fact, he practiced law for 62 years, and at the time of his death was one of the country’s oldest practicing lawyers. He married Helen Ferguson in 1907, and the couple had three children, Inez, and twins Robert and Richard.

Richard was badly wounded in the European Theater Operations in World War II and hospitalized for a lengthy period of time before becoming a dairy farmer. His Holstein cow, Haven, was the highest butterfat milker in 1954 in Illinois.
