This c.1900 fixer upper is located in the Oil City South Side Historic District. Our featured home today was originally owned by Edward W. Smiley, a clerk for the boiler works, who lived here with his wife Jeannette and son James. In 1910 the young married couple Harry H. and Anna S. McMullin lived next door at number 308. By 1920, the McMullins had purchased their neighbor’s house at #306. Harry (1869-1943) was a dentist with his own practice, and he and Anna raised their son Samuel here, who had his own cigar store as an adult.

Dr. Harry Hull McMullen, 73, one of the oldest practicing dentists in Oil City. The good doctor was a member of Grace Methodist Church, the Venango County Dental society, Petrolia lodge No. 363, F. and A.M., and the Venango Lodge of Perfection. He died in this home following a cerebral hemorrhage.
