Family History

This was the home of James (1836-1922)  and Elizabeth (1837-1903) Knowles. It is here that the couple lived with their six adult children, Homer, Mary, Ella, Frances, William, and Louanna. After Elizabeth passed away in 1903, Louanna took over the home as a boarding house for her father, sister, son, several lodgers and a couple of servants. Louanna was married to John Phillips, a baker who either died young or abandoned the family. Seems most of the family, Homer, Mary and Ella, all worked as bakers.
