Family History
From the 1920s to the late 1940s, this was the home of Charles Thomas Lee. Charles was born in England in 1885 and married his wife, Birdie Helen La Frenz, in 1916 in Davenport. Charles was a master mechanic for the railroad, and Birdie was active in civic affairs. The couple lived in the home with their son, Robert, and an aunt of Birdie’s. After the death of Charles in 1941, Birdie and now an adult Robert moved out of the home. Birdie became an office worker for a social agency and Robert worked in an office for farm implements.
