This home has been a duplex in the past and upstairs kitchen plumbing has been removed.
Family History
This was the home of Robert Barr (1874-1917), Owner and City Editor of the Fort Scott Tribune and member of the state senate. He shared the home with his wife Rosa Belle Jackson Barr (1878-1927). The couple purchased the home after their marriage in 1902 and resided here with their young daughter Francis. I was tickled by the 1915 blurb in the Fort Scott Tribune where Rosa Belle offers a reward for the return of a lost $10 bill. Sadly, Robert suffered a heart attack and was found deceased in his car in 1917 at the age of 43.
Victorian For Sale with pocket doors, ornate fireplace, 2 ornamental fireplaces (non-functioning). Sunroom off downstairs bedroom, and sunroom off upstairs bedroom. Spacious front foyer entry. Hardwood under most carpets. Front and rear stairways. Door entries would lend to recreating this large home as a duplex again. Dual heat/air systems for upstairs/downstairs. Upstairs furnace DOES NOT WORK. Renovation was started and not completed. Property sells AS IS.
My family name is Barr. Mom was Helen , her father Howard Barr. Wouldn’t it be quirky if I was related in some way. Would love to own an old Victorian home..it has always been a dream of mine. For some reason, the Victorian style has always spoke to me.
I’m 70 though. Used to do renovations, interior design in my area. But too old now..lol

Photo of the stairs going to the basement was spooky for me but the story about its history was fun to know.
