This c.1901 foreclosure has a certain curb appeal in an attractive-looking neighborhood of older homes near the natural trails of Mason Park.  Looks can be deceiving, however, as the area’s crime stats reflect. Also, as you can see by the photos, the home needs a new roof as well as repair of the old plaster and lath ceilings.

It is a shame. The house has potential, but the mold problem could be deeper than it looks from the bathroom photos. On the plus side, if the house is on the market long enough, the bank will probably start reducing the price. A foreclosure on 1.5 rural acres near our second house in Indiana started at $29,900 and was eventually sold for $5,000.
