OHU50K NOTES

I can almost hear the soothing sound of raindrops hitting the metal roof. This c.1905 tiny house is located in the tiny town of Humphreys (pop. 118). The home is bright, cheerful and cheap. Taxes are low, crime is low, and the property is not in a flood zone.

Humphreys

Located in the northern part of the state, Humphreys, originally called Haley City, started life in 1881 consisting of 17 blocks of 246 lots.  The town grew quickly and changed its name to Humphreys in 1882. James Stringer, for whom our featured home’s street was named,  established the first tore in 1881. By the end of that year the new town boasted four hotels, two drug stores, two dry goods stores, a general merchandise, and a millinery. A harness shop opened 1884 and blacksmiths a couple of years later. Today the town has no businesses, the post office is set to close permanently and there are a lot of abandoned structures for a town this size.
