OHU50K NOTES
This small home in a low-crime neighborhood of Streator, Illinois, was owned by William (1876-1954) and Mary Ann McInerney Trapp. The home first appears on the 1910 US Census, so I am guessing the build date is around 1905. William was the proprietor/owner of Trapp’s Tavern for more than 40 years, and the tavern, known for the Trapp Beef Sandwich, was in business for 68 years before closing. William Sr.’s parents, John and Eva Trapp of Batavia, Germany, were the founding owners.
William and Mary Ann had one son William Jr. According to newspaper accounts, Mary Ann was often in the hospital and the family had a few vehicular events. After William Sr. and Mary Ann passed away in 1954, the house was passed down to William Jr. who lived there with his son Mike. In 1930 the home was valued at $5,000.
